SRD Status Check Za is an independent information website for people in South Africa who receive, or are applying for, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant and other SASSA grants. We explain how the official processes work, what each result on the SRD portal means, and what to do next, in plain language.
Why this site exists
Every month a great many South Africans open the SRD portal and see a single word: approved, pending, declined, referred. The word is short, but the questions behind it are not. Why was I declined? When will the money land? Do I reapply or appeal? Is this link even real?
The official pages answer some of those questions, but they are written for the system, not for the person standing in a queue with limited data. At the same time, the search results are full of near-identical pages, outdated payment dates and look-alike websites built to collect personal details. We started this site to give people one careful, current and honest place to look first.
What you will find here
- Status guides. What every SRD status means, the usual cause, and the next step, with screenshots of the official screens on a computer and on a phone.
- Payment dates. The Department of Social Development’s payment schedule for the main grants, and a clear label on anything that has not been confirmed, such as the SRD pay window.
- Fix-it guides. How to change banking details or a phone number, how to appeal a declined month, and what to do when a payment does not arrive.
- Eligibility and amounts. Who qualifies for SRD and the other grants, and the current monthly amounts.
- Safety. Which web addresses and phone numbers are official, which ones SASSA has named as fake, and how to spot a scam before you type anything.
What we will not do
- We will not collect your ID number, phone number, bank details, PIN or OTP. None of our tools stores or sends what you type into it.
- We will not sell grant approvals, “fast-track” services or loans, and we will never charge you to check, speed up or fix a grant.
- We will not copy text from SASSA, government websites or other publishers. Our guides are written in our own words from what SASSA and the government have published.
- We will not guess. When a date, an amount or a rule has no reliable source, we say so, mark it as estimated or leave it out.
How we check our facts
Every guide shows the date it was last checked. We check against SASSA publications and the official portal, Department of Social Development notices, gov.za statements and SAnews, the South African Government News Agency. Our editorial policy explains the process in full, and our corrections and updates page logs every change to a date, amount or rule. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will fix it and record the fix.
Who writes and reviews the guides
Each guide names the author who wrote it and the reviewer who checked it before publication, and our policy pages are published by the editorial team. You can see who is behind each page, and how to contact us, on the authors and reviewers page.
How the site is funded
The site may show advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertising never decides what we write. We do not accept payment to publish or change information about a grant, and we do not run sponsored posts that look like guidance. You can read how advertising cookies work, and how to opt out, in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
