What this site is

SRD Status Check Za is an independent website that explains the SRD grant and other SASSA grants in plain language. It gives information only. It does not take applications, approve or decline grants, pay money or hold anyone’s account. For any of those things, use SASSA’s own channels.

No affiliation

We are not SASSA, the Department of Social Development or any part of the South African Government, and none of them has approved or endorsed this site. Nothing here should be read as an official statement by any government body.

Using the tools

The tools on this site give general guidance. Their results are not decisions, and they are not a promise that an application will be approved or paid, or when. They run in your browser, and you should never enter an ID number, PIN, OTP or bank details into them. You are responsible for checking anything important on the official channels before you act on it.

Accuracy and no reliance without checking

We work hard to keep every page accurate and we show the date on which each page was last checked. Even so, rules, amounts and payment dates can change at short notice. Please do not rely on any page for a decision about money or an application without first checking the official source. Our editorial policy explains how we verify information, and our corrections and updates log shows what we have changed.

Intellectual property

The text of our guides is original work written by us from the sources listed on each page. You may quote short extracts with a link back to the page. You may not copy whole pages, or republish our text as your own. Screenshots of SASSA and government pages belong to their owners. We show them only to explain how an official process works. The names SASSA and SRD, and any logos, belong to their owners, and we do not claim them.

Acceptable use

When you use this site, please do not:

  • use it to commit fraud, or to pretend to be SASSA, the government or us;
  • copy it to make a look-alike site, or use our name to collect personal details from others;
  • try to disrupt, overload or break into the site or its tools;
  • scrape it in a way that harms its performance for other readers;
  • use it to send spam or unlawful material through the contact email address.

We link to official and other third-party websites to help you. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Always check the address yourself, as our official links and scam warning page explains.

Advertising

The site may show ads served by Google AdSense on some guide pages. We do not choose individual ads, and an ad is not an endorsement. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser. Our privacy policy explains advertising cookies and how to opt out.

The information on this site is provided as general information, and we do our best to keep it correct. To the extent that South African law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that results from relying on the site, from errors or delays in the information, or from the content of external websites. This includes a missed payment, a declined application or a late appeal.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right or remedy you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any other law that cannot be limited or excluded, and nothing limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction over any dispute that arises from them.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when they were last changed, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
