This page explains which cookies and similar storage SRD Status Check Za uses, why, and how you can control them. It works together with our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly. It was last updated on 26 October 2026.
What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website, or a service it uses, saves in your browser. Local storage is a similar space in your browser that holds small pieces of information on your device. Both can be used to remember a choice, to count visits or to show ads. The site has no accounts, no log-in and no shopping basket, so it uses no log-in cookies.
What this site uses
| Category | What it is | Who sets it | When it is used |
|---|---|---|---|
| Site preference storage | One value in your browser’s local storage under the key srdg-consent. It remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. | This site | After you make a choice in the cookie banner. It stays on your device until you clear your browser data. We do not receive it. |
| Analytics | Google Analytics, which counts visits to our guides so we can improve them. It uses the well-known cookies _ga and _ga_<container>. | Google Analytics, through a script on this site | Only if analytics is switched on for the site, and only after you accept. Nothing loads if you decline. |
| Language choice | Google Translate, which translates the page into the language you pick in the header menu. A cookie called googtrans records your choice. | This site’s language menu sets it, and Google’s translation script reads it | Only after you choose a language other than English. Nothing from Google loads while you stay on English. Choosing English removes the cookie. |
| Advertising | Google AdSense and its partners, which show ads on some guide pages. | Google, on its own domains | When ads are switched on. Ads are personalised only where your consent allows. Ads never appear on trust and policy pages such as this one. |
We do not list the names of Google’s advertising cookies. Google sets them on its own domains, controls them and can change them. Google’s own pages describe them.
Analytics and the cookie banner
When analytics is switched on for the site, a banner asks you to accept or decline. If you accept, the Google Analytics script loads and sets its cookies. If you decline, it does not load. The banner covers analytics only. It does not control advertising, which is handled as described below.
If you do not see the banner, analytics is switched off and there is nothing for you to accept.
Language translation
The language menu in the header uses Google Translate. While you stay on English, no translation script loads and nothing is sent to Google for this. When you choose another language, this site saves a cookie called googtrans in your browser with your choice, so the next pages open in the same language. We set it for up to a year. The page then loads Google’s translation script, which sends the page text to Google to be translated. Choose English in the menu to remove the cookie, or delete it in your browser settings. The translation is automatic and we do not check it.
Advertising cookies
Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message from Google’s certified consent tool, where they can choose how their data is used for ads. Elsewhere, you can manage personalised ads in Google’s settings, as explained below. Our privacy policy links to how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
How to change your choice
- Cookie settings. Use the “Cookie settings” button in the footer of any page to reopen the analytics choice. It works when analytics is switched on. If analytics is off, there is no choice to change.
- Your browser. Every browser lets you block cookies and delete the ones already saved. Clearing your browser data also removes the
srdg-consentvalue, so we will ask again on your next visit. - Google Ads Settings. Turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Industry opt-out. Use the choices at aboutads.info/choices.
If you decline analytics after accepting it, no new analytics script loads, but cookies that are already on your device stay there until they expire or you delete them in your browser settings.
Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie category, we will change this page and its date.
