The South Africa SASSA grant payment schedule for 2026/27 was confirmed by the Department of Social Development in March 2026, and it covers twelve payment months, from April 2026 to March 2027. This page puts the whole year in one place: the full table, a quarter-by-quarter reading guide, the one revision made so far and the amounts paid. We last checked it on 2 November 2026.
What is the full 2026/27 payment schedule?

| March 2027 | 2 March | 3 March | 4 March |
Dates are paid on or after the day shown, and a weekend or public holiday moves a payment to the next working day.
The table covers the older persons, disability and children’s grants. SRD is not in it, because SASSA publishes no fixed SRD calendar. If you receive SRD, read SRD payment dates and use the pay day on your own status card. For the next dates and what to do when a payment is missing, start from the SASSA payment dates hub.
How should you read the year, quarter by quarter?
The schedule runs from April to March, so it falls into four quarters of three months. Here is what stands out in each one.
April to June 2026
April 2026 is the first month paid at the new amounts, and it has the widest spread of the year. Older persons were paid on 2 April, but disability followed only on 7 April and children’s grants on 8 April, a five-day gap between the first two. May and June are tight. Each has three dates on three consecutive days, 5 to 7 May and 2 to 4 June.
July to September 2026
July has the longest gap between the disability and children’s dates anywhere in the table, 3 July and then 6 July. In every other month of the year those two dates are one day apart. August runs on 4, 5 and 6 August, and September on 2, 3 and 4 September, so anyone looking for the September SASSA payment dates will find three consecutive days.
October to December 2026
October was 2, 5 and 6 October. November is the revised row, with older persons on Friday 30 October, disability on Monday 2 November and children’s grants on Tuesday 3 November. Grants under review are paid on Thursday 5 November. December goes back to 2, 3 and 4 December. The revision is explained on our SASSA payment dates hub, and the month pages carry the detail for November 2026 and December 2026.
January to March 2027
January starts on 5 January, which ties with 5 May as the latest older persons date in the year. February and March both run on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. SRD is funded to 31 March 2027, and the schedule we have checked ends with March 2027. We have seen no published dates after that, so we show none.
How do you use the table for a month that has already passed?
Many people come to this page to match a bank deposit to a month, for example to check the SASSA payment dates for May 2026. Find the month in the table, read across to your grant’s column, then open your bank statement and look for a credit on or just after that day. If the credit is there, nothing is missing. If it is not, check the account and then contact SASSA. Our hub on SASSA payment dates lists the steps for the older persons, disability and children’s grants, and SRD approved but no payment covers SRD.
What does the schedule not tell you?
It helps to know the limits of the table so that you do not read more into it than it says:
- It does not include SRD, which has no published calendar.
- It does not say when the money reaches your bank. It gives the day SASSA pays, and your bank decides when the credit shows.
- It does not say in which column some of the smaller grants fall. We have not confirmed that, so ask SASSA if you receive one of them.
- It does not list public holidays or promise that a date will never move.
Which public holidays and elections change the dates?
Two things are known to move a date. The first is the calendar: when a date falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the payment moves to the next working day. Check each date in your row against a calendar, and if it lands on a weekend, expect the money on the next working day. The date in the table is the day SASSA pays, on or after the day shown.
The second is a special event. The local government elections on 4 November 2026 led SASSA to revise the November dates. That is the only election effect we can state from sources.
We do not list individual public holidays or predict which dates they will touch. The Department of Social Development’s table and any SASSA announcement are the reference, and we update our table when either changes.
How did the amounts change in April 2026?
SAnews reported on 25 February 2026 that social grants would increase, and the new amounts took effect in April 2026, so every payment in this schedule is at them. The Older Persons, Disability and Care Dependency grants are each R2,400 a month, War Veterans is R2,420, and Child Support and Grant-in-Aid are R580 each. SRD stays at R370. The Budget Review of 25 February 2026 set aside an additional R36.4 billion, which funds SRD to 31 March 2027.
| Grant | Monthly amount | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Older Persons | R2,400 | People aged 60 and older who pass the means test |
| Disability | R2,400 | Adults with a disability who pass the means test |
| Care Dependency | R2,400 | Parents or carers of a child with a severe disability |
| War Veterans | R2,420 | Qualifying military veterans |
| Foster Child | R1,295 (Budget Review). DSD’s schedule page shows R1,290. | Foster parents of a child placed by a court |
| Child Support | R580 | The main caregiver of a child under 18 |
| Grant-in-Aid | R580 | People who need a full-time carer and already receive a qualifying grant |
| SRD (Social Relief of Distress) | R370 | Adults aged 18 to 59 with little or no income who pass the monthly checks |
Amounts took effect in April 2026. Checked 2 November 2026.
The Foster Child grant appears with two figures because SAnews and the Budget Review give R1,295 while the Department’s schedule page shows R1,290. We show both until the difference is explained. Our guide to SASSA grant amounts for 2026 compares every grant in more detail.
Can the schedule change during the year?
Yes. SASSA can revise a date, and it has done so once in this schedule. The revision for November 2026 was reported by SAnews on 15 October 2026, a little over two weeks before the first revised payment on 30 October. That is not much notice, which is why a printed calendar from the start of the year can go out of date.
Treat the table as firm unless SASSA announces a change, and re-read your row at the start of every month. When a date changes we update the table and record the change on our corrections and updates page.
How do you plan around the dates?
- Mark your column. Put your grant’s date in your cellphone calendar, with a reminder the day before.
- Re-read your row each month. A revision can come with little notice, as November’s did.
- Watch for double credits in a revised month. The older persons dates are 2 October and, for November, 30 October. If both are paid on those dates, an older person’s October statement will show two grant credits. The second is November’s grant on its revised day and not an extra payment, so budget as if November’s money has already arrived.
- Ask your bank about debit order dates. If a debit order is set to leave on the day your grant arrives, an early or late payment can leave your account short. Your bank can tell you how to move the date.
- Keep SRD separate. SRD does not follow this table, so do not plan SRD spending around it. Your status card has your own pay day.
- Do not go to an office just because it is payment day. For November, SASSA asked beneficiaries not to visit offices unnecessarily, because payments will follow the announced schedule.
How do you get notified of a change?
You should not have to find out about a change from a rumour. Use SASSA’s own channels:
- Website: sassa.gov.za is SASSA’s main website, so look there for notices.
- Social media: X @OfficialSASSA, Instagram official_sassa and YouTube @SASSATV, plus an official WhatsApp channel.
- Call centre: 0800 60 10 11, toll-free, weekday working hours (confirm on sassa.gov.za).
- Government news: SAnews, the South African Government News Agency, reported the November revision.
Our SASSA contact numbers page lists every verified channel and warns about the unverified ones.
