Children’s grants are the last of the three groups to be paid each month. The next three dates are Tuesday 3 November, Friday 4 December and Thursday 7 January 2027, and the date you want depends only on the month.

Dates are paid on or after the day shown, and a weekend or public holiday moves a payment to the next working day.
In every month of the table, the children’s date is one weekday after the disability date, and it falls between the 3rd and the 8th of the month. The lowest day of the month is the revised 3 November, and the highest is 8 April. A payment is made on or after the day shown. The table covers April 2026 to March 2027, and we will add later dates once SASSA publishes them.
If you are looking for the child grant date for December, it is Friday 4 December.
The revised November date
The November row is marked “Revised”. SASSA moved the cycle because of the 4 November local government elections, and children’s grants are paid on Tuesday 3 November, one weekday after the disability date of Monday 2 November. The pattern held. Grants under review are paid on Thursday 5 November, the day after the elections. SASSA also asked beneficiaries not to visit offices unnecessarily, so call or write before you take a child to an office. Everything about that cycle is on our November 2026 payment dates page, and the festive month is on December 2026 payment dates.
How far apart the payments are
The gap between two children’s payments runs from 28 to 34 days. The longest is from Friday 4 December to Thursday 7 January 2027, which is 34 days and includes the December holidays. If you budget around the dates, count to your next date, not to the end of the month. This is a general suggestion, not financial advice.
Put your next date in your cellphone calendar and look at your account or card from that day. For every grant in one table, use the 2026/27 payment schedule, or go back to the SASSA payment dates hub.
Why children’s grants are paid last
SASSA’s schedule does not say why, so we will not guess. What it shows is the order: older persons first, disability grants second and children’s grants last. In July the weekend sits between the disability date, Friday 3 July, and the children’s date, Monday 6 July. The order does not change.
That matters if you collect on the same street as someone on another grant. When an older relative’s money has arrived and yours has not, nothing is wrong. Your own date is in the last column of the table.
What each children’s grant pays
The schedule gives one date for children’s grants, so we show the three children’s grants together. The amounts differ, and they have applied since April 2026.
| Grant | Monthly amount | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Care Dependency | R2,400 | Parents or carers of a child with a severe disability |
| Foster Child | R1,295 (Budget Review). DSD’s schedule page shows R1,290. | Foster parents of a child placed by a court |
| Child Support | R580 | The main caregiver of a child under 18 |
Amounts took effect in April 2026. Checked 2 November 2026.
The Child Support Grant is R580 a month. The Care Dependency Grant is R2,400 a month. For the Foster Child Grant, the Budget Review figure is R1,295 and the Department of Social Development’s schedule page shows R1,290, so we show both. Check your statement for what you were actually paid. Our foster child grant and care dependency grant guides explain who each grant is for.
Who collects the grant
The money goes to the caregiver, not to the child.
- Child Support: the main caregiver of a child under 18. That can be a parent or another person who looks after the child.
- Foster Child: the foster parent of a child placed by a court.
- Care Dependency: the parent or carer of a child with a severe disability.
Because the caregiver is the person SASSA pays, it is the caregiver’s payment method, card, bank details and contact details that matter on pay day. Keep them up to date, and never hand your card or PIN to anyone else, even to a relative who offers to collect for you.
If a child grant is late
SASSA does not publish a list of the reasons a child grant can be late, so these are practical checks, not official causes. Work through them in order.
- Find your month in the table and check the date. A payment is made on or after the day shown, and a weekend or public holiday moves it to the next working day.
- Check your statement or card history for the arrival date. Banks differ, and we give no bank-by-bank timelines, so ask your bank if the statement is unclear.
- Think about what changed. A closed account, new banking details or a new cellphone number can all get in the way, and a grant under review can be paid on a different date, as in the revised November cycle.
- Look at your balance. Our child grant balance check guide shows how.
- Still nothing after your date? Call SASSA’s toll-free call centre on 0800 60 10 11 or email [email protected]. If you must go to an office, take your original ID.
When you call or write, say which grant it is (Child Support, Foster Child or Care Dependency), which month is missing and which date you expected the money. Have your original ID and any application reference number ready. Keep a note of the date you contacted SASSA and what you were told, so that a second call does not start from zero. Please do not send your ID number, PIN or banking details to anyone except through SASSA’s own channels.
Nobody can speed up, unblock or approve a child grant for a fee, and we cannot either. If someone asks for money, a PIN or an OTP, stop and report it on SASSA’s anti-fraud line, 0800 701 701. See our official links and scam warning page.
What about SRD?
SRD is not on this schedule. It is a separate grant for adults aged 18 to 59, paid at R370 a month, and SASSA does not publish a fixed SRD pay date. Each applicant’s own pay day appears on their status card on the SRD portal. If you are waiting on an SRD month, our SRD payment dates guide explains the window and what is and is not confirmed.
If you have not applied yet
This page is about pay days. To apply, or to find out who qualifies, read our Child Support Grant guide. SASSA assesses every application, and we cannot tell you how long that takes or which month your first payment will cover. Ask SASSA, and keep any reference number you are given.
Other households in your family may be paid on different days. See old age grant payment dates and disability grant payment dates.
