Dates are paid on or after the day shown, and a weekend or public holiday moves a payment to the next working day.

Every disability date in the table, including the revised November one, falls between the 2nd and the 7th of the month. A payment is made on or after the day shown, and a weekend or public holiday moves it to the next working day.

The October date and the next one

People often search for the disability grant payment date for October. That date was Monday 5 October 2026 and it has passed. If your October payment did not arrive, go straight to the steps further down this page.

The next date is Monday 2 November. Older persons are paid before you, on Friday 30 October, so a weekend sits between their date and yours. Children’s grants follow on Tuesday 3 November. Our November 2026 payment dates page explains why SASSA moved the cycle, and what to do on 4 November, the day of the elections.

Grants under review and Thursday 5 November

The revised November schedule has a fourth date: grants under review are paid on Thursday 5 November 2026. The schedule note does not say which grants this covers, how a review works or how long it takes, so we cannot tell you whether yours is included. SASSA may review a grant, and if you have been told that yours is under review, plan for 5 November and ask SASSA to confirm your date. Do not guess: contact SASSA and ask.

Planning around the dates

The gap between two disability payments runs from 28 to 34 days. October’s date, Monday 5 October, and the revised November date, Monday 2 November, are 28 days apart, so the second payment comes at exactly four weeks. The longest gap in the 2026/27 table is from Thursday 3 December to Wednesday 6 January 2027, which is 34 days and includes the December holidays. This is a general suggestion, not financial advice: count to your next date, not to the end of the month, and decide in advance how much cash you really need. Our December 2026 payment dates page has more on the festive stretch.

Where to watch for changes

SASSA revised the November dates, as SAnews reported on 15 October 2026. If SASSA changes a date again, look first at sassa.gov.za and SASSA’s official channels, and at sanews.gov.za. This page will be updated, and the change will be noted on our corrections and updates page. The SASSA payment dates hub shows every grant month by month.

How much the disability grant pays

The Disability Grant is R2,400 a month, the same as the Older Persons Grant and the Care Dependency Grant. The amount has applied since April 2026.

Amounts took effect in April 2026. Checked 2 November 2026.

We do not give means test figures, because they change and SASSA does the assessment. Our disability grant guide explains who qualifies and how to apply. Amounts for every grant are on one page: grant amounts for 2026.

If your payment is late or stops

Late and stopped are different problems, so sort out which one you have.

Late. Check your date in the table, then look at your statement or card history for the arrival date. Banks differ and we give no bank-by-bank timelines, so ask your bank if the statement is unclear.

Stopped. SASSA may review a grant, and a grant can lapse. SASSA’s 2026 booklet lists, among the reasons a grant can lapse, one that is not claimed within 90 days of approval. The booklet is written for social grants in general, so confirm with SASSA how any lapse rule applies to you.

In both cases, the steps are the same:

  1. Call SASSA’s toll-free call centre on 0800 60 10 11 or email [email protected], and say which grant it is and which date you expected the money.
  2. Ask whether the grant is under review or has lapsed, what SASSA needs from you and by when.
  3. If you go to an office, take your original ID, and keep any reference number you are given.
  4. If SASSA tells you something you disagree with, ask SASSA how to challenge it. We do not describe that process, because the sources we checked cover SRD appeals only.
Do not pay for help.

Nobody can approve, restore or speed up a grant for a fee, and we cannot either. Never share your PIN or OTP. If someone asks for money or a PIN, report it on SASSA’s anti-fraud line, 0800 701 701. See our official links and scam warning page.

Disability grant and SRD

SRD is a separate grant with its own application and monthly checks. SASSA’s SRD criteria say an applicant must not receive another social grant for themselves, so SRD and a disability grant do not normally run together. If your disability grant stops, do not assume SRD will fill the gap. Our SRD eligibility guide lists the criteria, and our SRD payment dates page explains why SRD has no fixed date.
