SAnews reported the revision on 15 October 2026. This post sets out who is affected, why the older persons’ payment lands in October, and what the sources do not say.

The revised November 2026 dates

Friday 30 October 2026 Older persons, revised
Monday 2 November 2026 Disability grants, revised
Tuesday 3 November 2026 Children's grants, revised
Thursday 5 November 2026 Grants under review

These dates are for the main grants. Older persons come first, then disability, then children’s grants, and grants under review follow. Our payment schedule for 2026/27 page shows every other month.

Look closely at the first card. The older persons’ payment for November is scheduled for 30 October, before November starts. If you wait for “November” to look, you may think the money is late when it is not. Also notice that none of the four dates falls on Wednesday 4 November itself.

If one household receives grants from different groups, for example an older persons grant and a children’s grant, each grant has its own date. Check each one separately instead of assuming they arrive together.

Why the dates moved

The reason given is the 4 November local government elections. We use “election holiday” in the headline because that is how many readers search for it. This post relies only on the stated reason, the elections, and on the schedule’s usual rule that a weekend or public holiday moves a payment to the next working day.

We do not print the earlier November dates. They have been replaced, and showing them only invites mix-ups with forwarded images.

Dates are paid on or after the day shown, and a weekend or public holiday moves a payment to the next working day.

Two things the notice does not tell us. It does not say whether further changes will follow, and we will not guess. And no schedule can tell you the minute money shows in your account. Payments are made on or after the day shown, and banks differ, so ask your bank and check your statement for the arrival date.

What to do before your payment date

  1. Find your own date. Use the cards on this page or the grant pages: older persons, disability and child support. Do not rely on a forwarded picture of a calendar.
  2. Do not visit an office unnecessarily. SASSA has asked beneficiaries not to. If you must go, bring your original ID. The office directory is on sassa.gov.za.
  3. Check your bank statement on and after the date. The statement shows when the money arrived. If you are not sure, ask your bank.
  4. Wait for the date before you worry. A payment scheduled for 2 or 3 November is not late on 31 October.
  5. If the date passes with no money, read our payment dates hub, which explains why dates move and what to do when a payment is late.

How to check a date you see online

Forwarded calendars cause most of the confusion when dates change. Before you trust one, run through four checks.

  1. Look at the older persons’ date. If an image shows older persons being paid in November rather than on Friday 30 October, it is not showing the revised schedule.
  2. Look for a source and a date. A genuine schedule points back to SASSA, the Department of Social Development or SAnews, and was published on or after 15 October 2026.
  3. Compare it with this page. The cards above and the November 2026 payment dates page are checked against the sources.
  4. Treat any SRD date as unconfirmed. If a picture lists an SRD pay window as if SASSA had published it, be careful. SASSA does not publish a fixed SRD calendar.

If a picture passes the first three checks but you still doubt it, check sassa.gov.za or the SAnews report before you plan around it.

Watch for scams that use date changes

A schedule change is the kind of news scammers copy. A message saying your payment is “on hold” until you click a link, pay a fee or send a PIN is not a SASSA notice. SASSA’s dates are announced on its official channels and reported by SAnews. Never share your PIN or OTP, and never pay anyone to apply, check or speed up a grant.

Safety note. If a message about the new dates asks you to click, pay or reply with personal details, do not respond. Check the date on sassa.gov.za instead. If you have already clicked or paid, read how to report an SRD scam, and use the checklist for spotting a fake SASSA website. The real addresses are on our official links and scam warning page.

What we will watch next

We will update this post if SASSA publishes a further change to the November dates, and we will record the change on the corrections and updates page. For the full list of dated updates, including the SRD funding position, see the SASSA news page.
